Regional and National Fine Artwork

Browse Art by Local and Southern Artists at Anne Irwin

The Anne Irwin Fine Art gallery on Bennett Street opened in September, 2001, though the company has been in the art business for over 20 years. The gallery carries original art – from classical realism to abstract expressionism – by both Southern artists and nationally recognized artists. Collectors seeking paintings by regional artists will find Anne Irwin's Atlanta gallery to be the perfect place to discover works by emerging Southern artists and nationally renowned artists alike. The 2007 Invitational Showcase featured art by Charles Waldman, Mark Lague, Louise Bourne, Elizabeth Tolley, Eva Carter, Kevin Beers, and Annie Meyer.

While the Anne Irwin gallery is considered a haven for up-and-coming Southern artists, this studio does not seem at all provincial and is one of Atlanta's trendiest art galleries. Some exciting upcoming events at the gallery include exhibitions from June Powell this August and Gary Bodner in September. Bodner's show promises to attract many who frequent the gallery, as he is one of the Anne Irwin gallery's most popular artists. He describes his work as strong and colorful with an expressionistic style. "The power of juxtaposing or placing one color on top of another to create an image is what drives my paintings," he says. Primarily Bodner considers himself a colorist and is constantly looking for the interplay of colors on his canvases. He says he has been influenced and inspired by artists such as Cézanne, Van Gogh and the architect Philip Johnson.

"Styles from classical realism to abstract expressionism"

Another eagerly anticipated exhibition at Anne Irwin is "Atlanta City Scenes," slated for October, which will feature paintings of Atlanta's landmarks, skylines, and scenery from various painters, including several Southern artists. So whether you are interested in gauging emerging work from Southern artists or buying an intriguing piece of abstract art, the Anne Irwin gallery is one of Atlanta's hottest art spots.
